The Hub Code of Conduct

Welcome to The Hub!

Mercy Housing California (Mercy) seeks to provide welcoming spaces for young people, families, and seniors to access resources and engaging programs that empower community members to pursue their aspirations and achieve their full potential. We are building a stronger, healthier, and more equitable community for everyone. To ensure we create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all community members, Mercy asks all community members, visitors, staff, and volunteers to adhere to the following guidelines:

 

Respect and Inclusion

  • Treat everyone with kindness, respect, and dignity, regardless of their background, neighborhood of residence, or any other personal characteristic.
  • Discrimination, harassment, or differential treatment based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or neighborhood affiliation is strictly prohibited.
  • Use inclusive, kind, and respectful language. Avoid derogatory remarks, offensive jokes, and hate speech.

 

Safety and Behavior

  • Promote a safe and secure environment for all. Any form of violence, bullying, or aggressive behavior is not tolerated.
  • The use of alcohol, drugs and illegal substances are not allowed on The Hub premises.
  • Keep The Hub clean and tidy. Dispose of trash properly and respect shared spaces.

 

Engagement and Program Participation

  • Participate in activities and programs in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Offer constructive and respectful feedback to help improve Hub services and programs.

 

Use of Facilities

  • Use The Hub’s facilities and equipment responsibly. Clean up after yourself and return any borrowed items.
  • Share resources and equipment fairly. Be considerate of others’ needs and always be kind.
  • Adhere to the schedule and policies for room bookings and usage.

 

Confidentiality and Privacy

  • Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information without consent.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of discussions and activities conducted at The Hub unless disclosure is legally required or agreed upon.
  • Follow all rules regarding photography and video recording within The Hub

 

Conflict Resolution

  • Address conflicts peacefully: Resolve conflicts calmly and respectfully. If needed, seek assistance from Mercy staff.
  • Report issues: Report any inappropriate behavior or safety concerns to Mercy staff immediately.

 

Commitment to Community

  • Support the goals and values of Mercy Community Life Team and The Hub.
  • Volunteer and Give Back: Whenever possible, volunteer your time and skills.

 

Reporting and Accountability

  • If you witness or experience any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, report it to a staff member immediately.
  • Understand that violations of this Code of Conduct may result in corrective actions, including temporary or permanent removal from The Hub and its programs.
